Sunday 21 March 12noon FREE EVENT
River Seven, Dale Head Farm,
Rosedale Review:
'The Danny DeVito of free
improvisation', trombonist
Alan Tomlinson blows into North Yorkshire to perform one of the
most extraordinary musical duets ever - with, and in, the River
Seven in the beautiful valley of Rosedale. Alan will paint a
soundscape of a primordial world, inspired and accompanied by
the music of the river.
"He can make the trombone
sound like frustrated elephants courting or like the finish at
Brands Hatch." Melody
Maker "He's a genius - just amazing!" Annie
Whitehead
The performance will last
approximately 30 minutes.
IMPORTANT: We recommend outdoor
clothing with wellies or boots. The ground can be wet and boggy.
The riverside performance area is unsuitable for dogs. If you
plan to walk your dog please leave him or her in your car during
the Alan Tomlinson performance. You attend this event entirely
at your own risk.
DIRECTIONS: from Rosedale village,
follow sign for Castleton and then after about 1 mile take left
lane to Dale Head Only. Continue slowly up lane until you arrive
at Dale Head Farm which is the last farm at the very end of the
lane. The river venue is 10 minutes walk across a field from
the farm - please allow plenty of time for your jouney and parking
- the performance will start at 12 noon prompt and last for 30
minutes.
FARMHOUSE FODDER: Maggie Barraclough
is opening her tea rooms specially for our event and will be
selling hot soup, tea, coffee and sandwiches. Call Maggie on
01751 417353 if you want to pre-order food.

Review by
Charles Hutchinson
"HOW did you spend
your Sunday? How about driving for an hour into ever hardier
Yorkshire country; following intermittent improvised signs to
the River Seven, down the narrowest of moorland lanes; then watching
cars being pushed up a muddy incline to park in a field, before
a cross-country trek to a babbling brook." Read the
